You are Strong

Do you ever feel weak? Not in the sense of not being able to lift something. But do you ever feel weak in the sense that you just can’t get out of bed in the morning. You’re just tired of life. You feel weak emotionally and spiritually. I’ve definitely felt that way multiple times in my life. I felt that way when I was in jobs I didn’t like. I would almost literally be sick to my stomach because I had to go to a job I hated. I’ve felt that way in relationships. I get tired of fighting the same fight over and over again. I’ve also felt weak in my walk with God. Do you even hear me God? Do you not see what I’m going through? Shoot, simply asking those questions is exhausting.
Whenever I felt weak in my walk with God, when I look back it’s not because God was not faithful. It was because I was more focused on my circumstances and less on God. I know that for two reasons. One, hindsight is always 20 / 20. You look back and you can see God’s faithfulness. Two, the bible is FULL of verses that talk about God’s faithfulness and what we need to do to gain strength. One of my favorites is Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.”
When we wait on God (when we expect, look for and hope in him … I love that!) we gain new strength. And the great thing is God’s strength never runs out. When you’re tired of fighting the battle of going to a job you hate or tired of fighting the same fight over and over again in a relationship … or maybe you’ve started focusing on your circumstances and not on God … it’s time to wait on God. How do we do that though? We do that through prayer, worship, connecting with other believers and spending time in God’s word.
Be encouraged today. There is a God who cares about you in ways you’ll never understand. He cares when you are tired, exhausted, or just plain ready to give up. He wants to give you the strength you need. God says he wants to give you life and give it more abundantly. Be encouraged today because you have a God with an unlimited supply of strength. Be encouraged because You. Are. Strong!
